Marilyn’s Gourmet Breads began with Marilyn experimenting with various breads to serve her guests at retreats. The breads were so popular she began selling them at markets first at Thunder Bay, Ontario and now in the Maritimes where she resides with her family. The bread has become a family business with her husband and children, along with some Mt. Alison students, assisting in the production and sale of the products. The title Gourmet came from her daughter Alisa and seemed appropriate since each of her breads is a unique creation, created for those who delight in quality food. Her son Leif who is a commerce student is her business partner and Alisa has the regular late night job of rolling out the baguettes, so they can be baked fresh in the morning. All the children including 12 year old Luke assist in the sales.

In keeping with her love of different cultures Marilyn has explored recipes from around the world and specializes in making traditional breads and other baking from around the world.(some of the students who assist in the production are international students) She especially enjoys making festive breads for seasonal celebrations All her breads are made by hand with organic flour and local products where possible.

Recently Marilyn has added the serving of some of her favorite soups, chilis and pastas to several of her markets. These are severed with her homemade bread and are available at various locations either to eat in or take home (See following list for specific locations) Her son Leif has also developed a salsa baguette using Marilyn’s baguettes and various toppings which are also a great success.

Freshly made sandwiches to your order are also available at some markets.
